Playwright, Rockhound

Karen Saari an emerging playwright with several national credits. ‘Rain on Fire has received readings with Flint Repertory Theatre (Mich.), NYC’s Broad Horizons Theatre Company, L.A.’s the Blank Theatre and was awarded the 2020 Talk Back Theatre Playwriting Prize (CA) and Renaissance Theaterworks’ 2019 Br!nk Residency Award (Wisc.). She co-wrote a musical Ten Days in a Madhouse (book and co-lyrics) which premiered in 2022 with Music Theatre of Madison (Wisc.). In a Clearing premiered in 2018 via Asheville’s Magnetic Theatre Company, was a semi-finalist for the O’Neill National Playwriting Conference, a Wisconsin Wrights New Play Festival winner, Last Frontier Theatre Conference PlayLab awardee and a finalist for the 2017 ATHE Award for Excellence in Playwriting. Her comedies Bad in Bed (A Fairy Tale) and Mornings with June have received multiple honors, as have her short plays Joyland and Gun Story. She is grateful to share Rockhound with Shattered Glass and a new audience. Karen holds an MFA in playwriting from Augsburg University.

Director, Rockhound

Cindy Giese French is the Artistic Director and a proud founding member of As If Theatre Company. A director, actor, producer, and writer, she is grateful to be working with these talented folks. Cindy’s latest project is Suite Surrender at As If Theatre, which plays through 4/2/23. Recent directing credits include The Cake and Kimberly Akimbo As If, Asylum in Georgia at Red Rover Theatre Co., and numerous staged readings. Love to Will, Paris, Isabel, Mom, and Rebecca.

Rain, Rockhound

Rebecca O’Neil is a Seattle-based actor with a passion for equity in the theatre and a profound interest in using the theatre to tell stories about all kinds of people, at all the intersections in their lives. She last appeared on any kind of stage as Beatrice in TSGP’s Zoom production of Much Ado About Nothing. Rebecca holds an MFA in Acting from University of Portland, an MA in Teaching from Willamette University, and a BA in Dramatic Arts from Mills College. She is the proud mother of Jade, Gemma and Rafferty, and grandmother of Leila. Peter: I couldn’t do this without you.

Caleb, Rockhound

Matt Lockett is a Minnesota native, who made his way to Seattle in 2021. He’s thrilled to be joining the folks at the Shattered Glass Project to breath first life into this incredibly beautiful and heavy play. By day, he works as an assistant in a coffee tasting lab, and enjoys exploring the city and spending time with his supportive partner, Max, and their adorable cat, Honey Francesca. Rowena/Maria, Rockhound

Jen is so excited to be a part of this project with friends old and new. She has been seen in audiences and on stages around the puget sound - favorite past shows include Boeing Boeing, Noises Off, and Proof. Most recent role has been mom to Violet (5) and Fiona (3) who already have a healthy (children’s) theatre obsession. Thanks to the Shattered Glass Project and production team for this opportunity.
